The dark tale of a man
...caught between ideals
...and human nature.

Is this a story about a political prisoner who is brutally tortured and dreams of an alternative life? Or is this a story of an ordinary man who could have been that political prisoner?

*** WARNING - THE VIOLENCE IN THIS MOVIE CAN BE DISTURBING ***

We intend no messages. This is not about politics or current affairs, but about humanness - our high ideals, humble nature, and the terrible pulls between them.

What is depicted in this movie is merely a remote concept to many westerners, but it was an urgent matter for me when growing up in a place with an unfortunate political history.

Although the majority of westerners are fortunate enough to be spared from the choices of the most dreadful kind, we all share the same ideals and weaknesses, and we do make our little choices everyday—when we turn the evening news off and go for dinner, and when we have our boutique cake despite everything happening around the world. Thus, I propose this is a story about you and me.

As for the experience of this particular political prisoner, I have to confess I spared myself and the viewers from the real deal. My apologies.
